Market Rasen Racecourse has announced an expert panel of three Lincolnshire fashion figures as judges for its Style Awards at next month’s Betway Summer Plate Ladies Day (Saturday 18th July).
Having run for over a decade, the Style Awards have become a key part of the season at Market Rasen and they are open to anyone who attends the raceday, with more than 500 racegoers entering last year.
It’s certainly worth throwing your hat into the ring for this year’s awards, too, with more than £7,000 worth of prizes up for grabs across the two categories.
Prizes will be handed out to the first, second and third placed contenders in the Best Dressed Person and Best Dressed Couple categories, with the overall winner taking home a stash that includes a wellness spa break at Laceby Manor and bespoke goodies from local brands including Rendered Fits and Louth Distillery, as well as £1,000 in cash.
This year’s expert panel champions inclusivity, body confidence and female entrepreneurship, featuring three local fashion leaders with thriving regional brands.
The line-up includes 33-year-old entrepreneur Lauren Rook, who set up the Lincoln-based body-positive Love Lissie brand and is offering second place in the best dressed person category the chance to take part in an official campaign for the label.
Also on the panel is Amy Maher, founder of Nettleham brand Amata Boutique, which has very kindly added £300 in vouchers into the prize pool for the third best dressed person on the day.
Completing the trio is award-winning fashion designer Jess Purdie, who will be offering free sketches of racegoers throughout the day, and is offering the Best Dressed Racegoer the chance to visit her Lincoln-based studio for a four-hour design session.
Revealing her delight at getting involved, she said: “I can’t wait to be a judge at this year’s Style Awards, which will be a proud day for me personally and professionally. I have my sketch pad at the ready!
“It’s an honour to be asked to be a judge alongside two hugely talented and inspiring ladies. There’s such a strong and stylish fashion scene in Lincolnshire and I can’t wait to see what everyone has up their sleeves for the big day.”
Market Rasen General Manager Jack Pryor added: “The Summer Plate fixture is our biggest of the season, with lots at stake both on and off the track.
“I’m thrilled that Amy, Lauren and Jess have agreed to be judges for this year’s Style Awards, three local figures who highlight just how much talent there is in the area.
“The standard is always high for the awards, but with £1,000 being up for grabs for the best dressed person, I wouldn’t be surprised if the competition in the fashion stakes is just as fierce as the Betway Summer Plate on the track!
“It promises to be a hugely enjoyable day out and we’d love to have you along, with advance tickets in our Lawn Enclosure starting at just £15. We’re close to selling out in our County Enclosure, so make sure you buy early to avoid disappointment.”
