December Beginner/Intermediate Dress-Making Course (3x sessions)

Join us for our drapery-lead dress-making course at the new Jessica Purdie Ltd Lincoln-based studio for beginners and intermediates. 

Create your dream dress whether it's for the races day, a floaty day dress for work or a Christmas frock for a party, the options are endless and no creativity will be limited*. Throughout the course, we will cover 3 sessions which will include an introduction to sewing basics, fashion sketching with design, and an introduction to drapery and pattern cutting. 

At the end of the course, you will have made your very own bespoke-made dress to wear!

The course will be hosted by award-winning local Designer and Dress-Maker, Jessica Purdie who owns Prikil Pear and Jessica Purdie Ltd, working with 150+ bridal clients a year and servicing the Midlands for all alterations and commission-based clothing projects.

What's included for 3 sessions of 4 hours (£300 total if booking the 3-part session deal): 

• All equipment provided for the sessions including pattern-cutting tools, mannequins and sewing machines
  
• 2 meters of Calico for toiles each*
• Group tutoring with local designer, Jessica Purdie

*Students are encouraged to source fabric (or have an idea of what they need) prior to the course if they are dreaming of a show-stopping dress that requires meters of fabric and a mixture of different qualities/weights of fabric. If more calico is required, this can be purchased directly from Jessica Purdie Ltd during the session.

The course is constructed of the following sessions:

• 2nd December, 5pm-9pm: Part 1: Vision Board creation, fashion sketching, machine introductions and design development including sewing basics - Fabric will be discussed during this session and will need to be bought ready for the next session (4 hours)
• 9th December, 5pm-9pm: Part 2: Introduction to drapery and pattern cutting, cutting out patterns and fabric with construction tutoring - All fabric and trims will need to be bought to the session to be able to construct garment and mock-up draft toiles (4 hours)
• 16th December, 5pm-9pm: Part 3: Final construction session with tutoring - Students will be expected to have completed a draft toile before this session and be putting together their dress creations. (4 hours)
  

Course address: Jessica Purdie Ltd, Unit 4, Checkpoint Court, Lincoln, LN6 3PW with FREE parking on site.

Students are recommended to attend all dates upon booking to get the full course experience. We have designed this course to be able to book parts or multiple parts of course also for people who want to have a little introduction to vision boarding creating and design, sewing basics and drapery and construction.

 We will accept no refunds for course but can swap people into the student's spot should they wish to sell on the ticket. Please email to enquire if this if your situation.
